The main attraction of Canon Powershot A700 is its 6x optical zoom lens. This is twice the length of a standard zoom lens. Besides the increased zoom camera also has many features aimed at someone who is looking for more than a simple point and shoot digital camera. This includes fully manual exposure mode. Powershot A700 is a six megapixel model.

I must admit to liking a range of Canon Powershot digital cameras in general and I found that the Powershot A700 supports this reputation when it comes to picture quality. Images are very sharp. In fact this is an area where Powershot A700 outperforms just about any other brand. I also found the camera works well indoors or in lowlight situations.

Colors are strong without overpowering and are well balanced. This helps to achieve a natural feel for pleasing skin tones in portrait shots. Also drill and landscape style shots and many other every day type of photo.

There is a good sized LCD screen (2.5 inches) to create photographs and access the menu. The viewfinder is also available if you prefer to use one. Powershot A700 is a reduction in the number of all digital cameras offer one.

an advanced movie mode is available. In addition to the standard movie mode that can record TV quality movies there is another type of film you shoot. These records up to one minute of footage in a fast frames per second speed. The advantage of this is that you can replay it in slow motion movie. This is often used to analyze golf swings and other similar activities.

Although the good things in life are said to be free to pay a fair price for the Powershot A700. Canon has set prices at levels above some digital cameras that offer more than 10x optical zoom. So I can see what a tough decision for many people and whether they go for this camera, or a little cheaper with more zoom. One factor, but could work in favor of this camera is that it retains a fairly compact shape compared with the larger 10x optical zoom models.

As you would expect it might take some time to be fully conversant with this camera. This is a step up from basic point and shoot digital camera so there are more opportunities to learn. In general I found the menu system, which Canon used to be a little harder to get to grips with the other brands.

Powershot A700 runs on AA batteries and stores images on SD cards. Although the convenience of AA batteries I would recommend buying a set of batteries to keep the costs down to a minimum.

plastic than metal is used for the body. Nevertheless I felt the camera still had a solid feel. In terms of size is too large to fit comfortably in your pocket. upside of this is that it fits well in your hand and holding the raised area on the front helps to hold the camera steady while taking a shot.

All in all, I was very impressed with the Canon Powershot A700. It offers more than standard point and shoot camera. It is likely to appeal to anyone who is looking for above average image quality and will also appreciate the manual controls it offers. It's a camera for someone who enjoys photography.
