Why I Chose the Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera

Bookmark and Share

I chose the Nikon D90, not because I Nikon snob, because I also own Canon and Nikon, and others. It is also not including the Olympus and Canon point and shoot camera I own. I chose the Nikon D90 because of its ability, plain and simple!

One of the things that first caught my eye was a 3-inch LCD screen. This is great when you use the Live Mode, especially for video recording. Although there is no auto-focus in this mode, they have a three way contrast: Face Priority, Wide Area, and normal areas. In the Face Detection mode, the frame around the detected person and follows them around the screen. Nikon is now integrated as part of Nikon's Scene Recognition System (SRS ).

Nikon D90 is a 11-point phase detect AF system is arrayed in a diamond pattern and now includes a 3D focus tracking, which can be found on the D3 and D300 models. For those of you who already have a Nikon, and will continue to drive an old auto focus lenses and a new electronic lenses, something that is not included in the less-expensive Nikon D40, D40x, D60 i.

When I bought the D90 body only because I have two lenses, I still like anti-vibration mode (Vibration Reduction). I'm getting older by the day and tend to be a little shake while holding the camera and this feature reduces the "shakes" to some degree.

Nikon D90 has a new Info button for bringing up the rear a new state panel, and further activates the submenu. options here include changing the high ISO noise reduction, Long Exposure Noise Reduction, Set Picture Control, and assign a function key to assign AutoExposure-Lock/AutoFocus-Lock button.

Change in most other functions are controlled by the button, and since all the critical functions you need your button for quick access, they are, where you can find them in trouble not once you have mastered the feel and control of the camera.

For those of you upgrading to the D90, the LCD is also bright, crisp, 920,000 pixel LCD screen located on the Nikon D300, D3, D700 in. The three inches high, it checks your photos more fun (to help with any eye ).

Now I've never been a big fan of "movie recording feature" of these new cameras, but when I used it, I became a convert. This is a nice feature to have a new live view mode makes it even better. You have to start with manual focus at first, but after you press the OK button to start recording, you can use manual focus and zoom for use whenever you need.

improved performance in both ISO and resolution is another added benefit. With a resolution of 12 megapixels and ISO up to 6400 is a step from what you're probably using now. Where other cameras can come close to the performance at ISO 1600 when shooting in both 3200 and 6400 this camera wins hands down. Very clean, with very little noise in shots.

Did you ever notice the purple or green fringe around the edge of images when using long zoom ratio and high contrast? This is called "chromatic aberration" and D90 corrects this problem enormously. Even an average performance of zoom lenses are corrected Nikon chromatic aberration correction . version of the D90 kit comes with 18-105mm lens is so-so lens, but in combination with CA correction, performed well without any fringe problem. What a great feature.

the most continuous mode frame rate of 4.5 fps, the Nikon D90 is 50% faster than the 3 frames per second D80, and we all want to quickly record, when we need it. It is also faster than my current Canon XSI as well, but I would not give this camera at this time.

So, in comparison to Nikon Canon is like comparing Darth Vader to Luke Skywalker, nobody wins. But if you want a camera that does video, takes fantastic pictures, has great potential and are looking to upgrade to a new digital SLR, the Nikon I think will fit your bill perfectly.
